Are you experiencing Lag? FPS Lag? Well, I got a couple Tips/tricks that should increase overall gaming performance, and decrease lag. FPS lag can be caused by Anti virus, Program Firewalls,Unnecessary Services/Processes running in the background. Spy ware and viruses can leach on system performance too. Make sure you run System Scan daily or At least twice a week.These are programs that i use, they are completely safe to download. Updating graphic card can give better performance. Remember stay updated with your latest Drivers, because not being up to date can cause problem with games. Such as Graphical errors, Slow performance, Game Freezing, and Low FPS

Set Visual Affects to best Performance

You can set visual affects to best performance to increase CPU speed which can drastically increase system performance by miles. My Computer > Properties > Advanced Tab > Performance Settings > Visual Effects Tab > Set to best Performance.

Increase Virtual Memory

Increasing your Virtual Memory Can increase your windows performance, Especially with Many applications and System Hogs that take up a lot of memory. Note: You can only increase Virtual memory if there's space in the Hard drive. Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory then set. 1.5x (multiply) times the size of your physical RAM. That how much you set the amount of space. Set Both Maximum and Initial.

Close Unnecessary Start up programs

Closing unnecessary programs can increase computers Resourses by terminating all the processes that runs in the start of system reboot. Start - Run - Msconfig - Start up - Un check any unnecessary Start up programs. To stop the program from running just uncheck the box, Apply, Reboot or Reboot later. You can change it back by just checking the box again.

System Tools

You can use your default Computer tools to increase Computer Overall performance by going to. Start up - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter. This will Organize your Computer Files and Boost up system performance. Disk Cleaner will clean all the mess in your computer. Like offline files, Recycle bin. Etc

Ping Issues

If your experiencing ping issues, Wireless can be the problem or You maybe far away from the servers. Try playing on closer servers, Or might be due to Slow ISP. If your a wireless user, Try decreasing Interference, Try moving it closer to the router. For DSL box, You can Take out the power cord, Wait 45seconds, Put it back in. Ethernet cable is better for online gaming in most cases, If your experience lag with wireless.

Set a priority to your games

You can set a priority in the task manager to your game process to increase resources given to it. Open game - ALT + Ctrl + Delete - Processes - Find your game process - Right click - Set above normal or High

Temporary fix for Ping issues
Windows XP solution - Run "Services" Scroll down - Disable "WLAN autoconfig"

Windows Vista solution - Run or search "Services" - Find Wlan Auto Config -Rirhgt click - Properties - Disable - Restart

Tip for nvidia users Start - Control Panel- Appearance and Personalization - Nvidia control panel. Increase the slider to performance.

Prefetch - Solve various of problems. Including Ping issues, Game Guard Issues etc Run or Search - Prefetch - Delete everthing Besides (ReadyBoot Because I never tried to deleting it, So i don't recommend doing that)

CMD - Ipconfig/flushdns (Vista users) Just run CMD to have administrator privileges

When using this software, It cleans unwanted Invalid ActiveX, Invalid Paths, Missing File and Folder, Invalid Installer reference and more. This can increase Overall System Performance and stability. It cleans out more then Your everyday CCleaner registry, But CCleaner is handy to keep around because it does have a decent cleaner and Registry cleaner. Eusing Free Registry Cleaner cleaned more then 200registry errors on my computer very handy.

This is affective software can surprisingly increase computer performance. It can detect Unwanted melware(Spyware,Adware,Virus) that Hogs on system resources and do malicious activity's. Spyware basically monitors you while your on the computer without your knowing. Adware download, plays, even display advertisement on your computer. Malwarebytes Scan and Clean the Melware off your computer, Paid version haves a Real Time Protection. This is a very good program if you think your computer is acting a little weird and computer overall performance is slowing down.

Smart Close

I found this very handy program to close unnecessary Programs/Services and close in the background so it won't use any resources. It's a gamble between Game booster or Smart Close. But, It's mostly off of personal preference. With smart close, I gained about 30-50 Frames per second Which is pretty neat. It protects important windows processes/services, and gives you the option to add a program to not close during the Wizard. You can save snap shots under your own name or it will automatically save the last snap shot for you so you can restore the previous one. During the wizard, It disables not only Your unnecessary processes/services, It disables your screen savor.

Easy to use, Simple interface, Protect a program you do not want closed, Protects Windows Critical Processes/Services.

Ccleaner

Ccleaner is a cleaning toolk optimized to clean all the unnecessary junk in your computer making windows faster. It cleans Online history activity when surfing the internet. A free application that is very handy and light. Very effective, Easy to use Program. I recommend it.

GameBooster

I know i recommend Smart close because it's more effective Just from personal preference. But game booster have a neat Game Defrag that is highly needed. You can defrag any of your game files, Including wonderking! Game defrag can make your game run faster then usually. You might see faster start up or an increase of FPS. You can use is as your primary Program to close Windows services. But i still recommended using smart close to do that

Advance System Care

Everything all in one. PowerFul defrager that i personally like, Better then windows Defragmenter. It can optimize your system performance and Internet. It makes your pc more stable, But i do not recommend the Registry cleaner. Eusing is probably the best free one. You can pick up Iobit security 360 which is really good for a beta program. I have used it as my backbone protection. They have been improving system care alot, Tweaking there software to be better and more effective.

Internet security WOT - Web of trust.

On the internet these days, there's fake anti viruses, Spam sites, Untrusted sites, Fake registry cleaners,Virus sites, Scam sites etc With web of trust, Its a addon for your browser and alerts you when you run into these untrusted sites. When you search with google with this addon it tells you what are trust by having a green circle around it. A untrusted site haves a red circle around it. It also have a option when a site is untrusted it will display a message before entering the site to "Keep going it's trusted" or "Get the heck outta there" Not the exact words but yeah.

ReadyBoost

Ready boost makes Windows Start up faster and Makes application faster by using flash memory for cache.

Vista Anti-Lag

If your using Wireless and experiencing Lag Spikes, This program is help dramatically by modifying your wifi connection and reducing lag spikes/Peaks. It works on some computers, so good luck. Only for Vista

Just upgrading your computer to get better performance in games is an option. I recommend stores like Newegg.
